Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team
The LLMRT is made up of a dedicated group of local mountaineers who volunteer to give up their time to assist those in trouble. The volunteers come from all different backgrounds. Many are local mountaineering instructors and guides, others are tradespeople, work for the Snowdonia National Park, or run small businesses, to name but a few.
Fund raising The team receives no funding for its work and relies on donations to cover its outgoings. The specialist equipment used for mountain rescue is costly and, due to the nature of the environment, has a short lifespan, and so regular replacements are needed.

Be prepared If you venture into the mountains then make sure that you are well prepared in case of an emergency or accident. Take with you: - Plenty of high energy food and drink (2 ltrs). - Sturdy footwear with a good sole. Most injuries are to the lower leg due to poor footwear. - Suitable clothing. Waterproofs, warm layers and spares. Gloves and hat. - Sun hat and plenty of sun cream during fine weather plus additional water and food. - Map and compass, but make sure you know how to use them (see navigation courses). - Attend a first aid course (see links page) - Carry a mobile phone as a backup but be prepared to be out of range in mountainous areas. -Start early! Many people underestimate the time for their route. Rest and don’t over do it! - Let someone know your plan for the day and what to do if you’re overdue.
